Engineers from Western Refining called our office to evaluate the recent formation of a crack in an epoxy group pad for a 35,000 lb compressor. It was determined that a combination of factors likely cause the cracking to occur, including a recent prolonged coldsnap and improper preparation of the anchor bolts. Repair of the cracks by the manufacturer's suggested method would ensure that the cracks would pose no structural risk.
