THE UTEP PHYSICAL PLANT PROJECT with the architectural firm of Anderson Thacker consisted of a stand-alone campus with several physical plant buildings. Including administration, conferencing, and maintenance buildings, the project utilized precast concrete, integral color, load-bearing precast concrete walls. To provide high impact resistance, interior load bearing walls at the maintenance buildings, the interior walls were also precast concrete panels. The roof structures consist of typical steel beam and open web steel joists, supporting a steel deck system. The stand-alone structures, which are located away from the main campus of the University of Texas at El Paso, reflect the design concept of the main campus. The exterior precast concrete wall panels utilized brick inset bands, which reflect the unique exterior design feature of the University of Texas at El Paso main campus.
