This project consisted of the structural design of six buildings to create a new entrance into the zoo and a reptile exhibit building. The reptile exhibit building was the shape of a tortoise with a shot-crete roof. The structures for the entry buildings included masonry bearing walls with steel bar joists or timber roof framing supporting metal or wood decking. The buildings reflected the styles one might encounter when visiting an African frontier town and housed administrative offices, a restaurant, shops, educational facilities and a train depot.
