EL PASO HIGH SCHOOL AUDITORIUM UPGRADE required the design of new backstage rigging and reinforcing of the existing structural framing at the stage to support new enhancements. The auditorium, which is housed within the high school structure, was constructed as part of the El Paso High School building complex. The original construction in 1917 presented several challenges since portions of the long span roof structure consisted of riveted and bolted connections. The renovations included installation of upgraded mechanical systems and stage improvements, which necessitated reinforcing of the roof framing and portions of the upper stage rigging and proscenium curtain supports. The work required several site visits since not all of the original construction documents were available for review.
